The Bureau of Meteorology is tipping December 31 to be a warm one with no rain in sight.
The mercury likely to top out at 27 degrees by midday.
That means people can look to spend a few hours at the beach before getting ready for the evening festivities.
Granted there might not be a whole lot of events going on for New Year's Eve, with COVID cutting a swathe through people's plans, but the weather should be good for those brave souls planning on heading out.
At 6pm, it is predicted to be mostly clear with a temperature of 25 degrees, before falling to 23 degrees at 9pm.
Council's focus this New Year's Eve is on supporting our residents to celebrate and have fun in a COVID-19 safe way.
That will be a comfortable temperature to watch the fireworks over Wollongong Harbour, which will be exploding higher than usual so that people can spread out along the coast and still get a good view.
It will be the first New Year's Eve fireworks display put on by council for a few years, after COVID and bushfires caused previous celebrations to be cancelled.
While there will be no market stalls, entertainment or music, people can tune into i98FM and listen to the soundtrack while watching the sky light up.
"Council's focus this New Year's Eve is on supporting our residents to celebrate and have fun in a COVID-19 safe way," Wollongong Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery said.
When the new year comes at midnight the temperature will still be in the low 20s.
It's also looking good for New Year's Day, if you've managed to avoid a hangover and want to go outside or head off to the beach.
Saturday will see highs of 27 degrees and a low of 20. Sunday will be even hotter, with the expectation of a very summery 29 degrees.
The good weather is expected to hang around until Tuesday, when the rain is predicted to return.
