From January 10, the rail network will move from its standard summer timetable to an "enhanced weekend timetable" similar to what was in place in August last year during the Delta outbreak.

"During Delta, we successfully adjusted our timetable to prioritise the safety of our customers and staff while also providing vital transport services for the community," said Transport for NSW Chief Operating Officer, Howard Collins.
"While patronage remains low across the network, we will again adjust rail services to an enhanced weekend timetable as we may also experience COVID-related staffing issues in the current environment."
He said buses, ferries, metro and Light Rail services would continue to operate to a summer timetable.
Other measures in the COVID-safe transport plan, like the mandatory wearing of masks and social distancing via sitting only in seats with a green dot will remain.
