COVID-19 cases in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District have tripled over night to 1496 confirmed cases to 8pm on Wednesday, with 38 patients in hospital.

The ISLHD said 837 cases were from the Wollongong Local Government Area, 327 from Shellharbour LGA, 254 from Shoalhaven LGA and 78 from Kiama LGA.
There have been 9042 community acquired COVID-19 cases reported in the region since June 2021.
The ISLHD said there were 38 patients in hospital in the District as a result of COVID-19, including patients who are no longer COVID-19 positive.
Last night the ISLHD outlined how it was dealing with the current COVID-19 case load in the region.
ISLHD chief executive Margot Mains said the district would adapt its response to COVID-19 in line with case numbers as they rise and fall.
