A magnificent mirrored tent housing an array of comedians, cabaret and circus acts will return to Wollongong's Arts Precinct in March after a three-year absence.

The Circa production of Peepshow is the first of three headline shows announced for the temporary venue to be setup outside the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre (IPAC).
The show will run from March 9 to 12 and is a mix of cabaret and circus with teetering towers of balanced bodies, extreme bending, beguiling burlesque, and devilishly precarious aerials, according to Merrigong Theatre Company's website.
The full program is yet to be announced but looking at previous year's lineups the Illawarra can expect to see some of Australia's biggest names in comedy mixed with local artists and creative organisations - with something for the adults down to children's shows.
Dutch for "mirror tent", Spiegeltents originally began popping up in Belgium in the late 19th century as travelling entertainment venues but have now found their way into Australian entertainment culture.
Wollongong will play host to the stunning "Aurora" Spiegeltent - an extravagant big top tent decorated with mirrors, stained glass, velvet and brocade with a glamorous old-world feel.
The last time the region hosted the venue was in 2019.
Although Peepshow will be performed in the temporary venue, it is part of the main season's programming for 2022 at the IPAC.
Other prominent shows coming up at the prestigious Illawarra venue include The Sirens' Return, a locally produced play with music to be performed in the outdoors at Port Kembla Pool in February.
It was originally scheduled as part of 2021 programming but was postponed due to the pandemic.
Also in February the IPAC will host political satirists The Wharf Revue: Can of Worms.
At the launch of the main season in late 2022, Merrigong director Simon Hinton told the Mercury they'd worked hard to curate a season around all the uncertainty the pandemic brought.
