A shop specialising in Korean fried chicken and comfort food has opened its doors in Wollongong's CBD.
The store is the latest outlet from Chicken V, a chain that originated in Korea and has multiple locations in Sydney.

Chicken V has developed a cult following for the wide variety of traditional and unique flavours of Korean fried chicken.
Flavours of fried chicken range from sweet and spicy to mala flavour, that uses a traditional Chinese spice mix that is made from Sichuan peppercorns and chilli and has a slight numbing effect.
For those unfamiliar with the Korean take on fried chicken, a good place to start is to try their sprinkle chicken. The battered and deep fried pieces of chicken are tossed in a cheese powder topping and are delicious when smothered in a yoghurt dipping sauce.
Patrons are welcome to choose the flavour that speaks to them or alternatively taste the rainbow with a nine piece sampler set of all the flavours - best shared between two.
Owner Harry Jeong said that the store innovates when it comes to Korean fried chicken.
"We try to mix it up a bit to please Australian tastes," he said.
Since the business opened on December 24, the response from early visitors has exceeded expectations with the small store turning around platters of fried chicken as well as its other dishes.
But what makes Korean fried chicken different from other varieties of the deep fried bird? Well, according to Mr Jeong, Korean fried chicken is always crispy.
"Koreans don't like soggy chicken and they always want to keep it crispy. So that's what we're always aiming for."
Also on the menu at Chicken V are a number of dishes that Jeong describes as Korean "comfort food".

Drawing from street food styles in Korea, these include a super spicy rice cake soup, rose cream rice cake soup with corn ribs and grilled pork belly with sizzling kim chi.
"Korea has a lot of takeaway culture. They will just grab takeaway and go home or eat outside. It's something that everyone does," said Mr Jeong.
As the local iteration of Chicken V becomes further known in Wollongong and throughout the Illawarra, Mr Jeong is looking to take on any feedback and adapt to find the best chicken to match the community's tastes.
