Barry Sandry, owner of a handyman and building business as well as Jim's Mowing franchises, bought a brand-new Renault van from Gateway Automotive in July.
A few months later it was struck with gearbox trouble so he took it back to the dealership for repair, as Renault advised.

But Mr Sandry said the van was still not fixed after five weeks - which he said had cost him $1000 a day in lost work.
On Wednesday morning, he drove to the dealership and parked another vehicle and trailer across its driveway.
There were some traffic disruptions as people tried to pull into the driveway, and there was talk of calling the police, but after a short time Mr Sandry was invited inside to discuss a resolution.
Gateway Automotive agreed to buy back the vehicle in question, although Mr Sandry said he would also seek compensation for lost income.
Mr Sandry told the Mercury that the vehicle was stuck at the dealership for so long because they advised him they had no one authorised to do the required work, but they needed permission from Renault to release the vehicle back to him for repair elsewhere.
The business was unable to comment.
