Labor's health spokesman has welcomed a "backflip" by the Perrottet government to resurrect restrictions to battle the surge of Omicron.
Member for Keira, and Shadow Minister for Health, Ryan Park said on Friday reports of restrictions in venues, major events and in hospitals making a return was an "extraordinary" decision but the government needs to provide more clarification as soon as possible.

The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting the government's COVID economic recovery committee will sign off on restrictions some time on Friday - including a pause on major events, restrictions on some elective surgery and bans on singing and dancing in pubs.
"Three weeks ago we warned that the health system was at breaking point and the Premier rejected that assessment," Mr Park told the Mercury.
"We have always said that the government should be governed by the health advice, and Dominic Perrottet had clearly been ignoring the health advice for the last month.
"The Premier needs to calmly outline the changes today and tell us when he was first advised to reintroduce these restrictions."

The number of COVID-positive people are at record highs with 1633 recorded in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District on Thursday, while more than 70,000 cases were recorded in the past two days.
It's understood pubs and clubs would also be discouraged from allowing people to drink while standing up; nightclubs will close; major events would be risk-assessed and postponed where necessary; and elective surgery restrictions reintroduced.
It comes as the Victorian government announced on Wednesday they would suspend non-urgent surgery, as well as changes to density limits in restaurants, cafes, pubs, nightclubs and other entertainment venues.
