Of those, 475 were from a PCR test and 557 were from rapid antigen tests.
A breakdown of cases by Local Government Area is not available at this time.
Across the state NSW has recorded 17,450 new COVID-19 cases and one death in the 24 hours to 4pm Saturday.
The man who died was aged in his 70s from western NSW, and had received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. He had significant underlying health conditions.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,056.
There are 1,171 COVID-19 patients in hospital, with 47 in ICU.
Of the new cases, 9,752 came from positive rapid antigen tests while 7,698 came from PCR testing.
