The teenager was superb throughout the event and produced a 9.17 wave to secure the final at Cabarita Beach on Sunday afternoon.
Smith defeated a number of highly fancied rivals to claim the World Surf League Pro Junior event, with Jay Occhilupo, son of 1999 World Champion Mark Occhilupo, second, and Sean Gunning and Logan Steinwede third and fourth respectively.
Smith knew the winning wave had potential the moment he saw it develop in the distance and he was determined not to let the opportunity pass him by.
"When that last one came I knew it was going to be a solid score if I could keep it together," Smith said. "Once I got to the end of it I knew I had locked in a big score."
Smith's victory came nine months after he claimed last year's edition of the Tweed Coast Pro.
"I'm just stoked to come back and compete here.
"I love it here on the Tweed Coast, there are so many fun waves, the water is warm, and the beaches are beautiful. I just love coming back and maybe that's what I do well here."
The women's final was won by 15-year-old Sierra Kerr, daughter of former professional surfer Josh Kerr and it marked her first WSL win.
"I'm frothing right now," Kerr said. "I've been waiting to get a win for a while now and after back-to-back second place finishes in pro junior events, I guess third time's a charm.
"The QS event this week was really good for my confidence - I beat some of the older competitors that have a lot of experience so it gave me a lot of belief in what I could achieve here."
Sunday's win has Smith ranked third on the standings in the Oceania arm of the WSL men's junior tour.
Marlon Harrison is currently on top, with Joel Vaughan second, the pair having competed at three events to Smith's two.
The next Australian event on the WSL junior tour is the Gold Coast Pro in early May before the surfers return to NSW for the Sydney Surf Pro later in the month.
