The Rockets won their third game in a row - leaving the Originals with three defeats from three - as they chased a record 190 to triumph by eight wickets with six balls remaining on Saturday.

In the day's other match Aussies Kane Richardson and Matthew Wade helped Birmingham Phoenix win a low-scoring affair against Welsh Fire.

Wade top-scored with a typically perky 38 off 30 balls as Phoenix posted 7-130 in Cardiff.

Will Smeed, who became the first player to post a century this season on Wednesday, was dismissed for a four-ball duck.

Adam Zampa took one for 25 in 15 including the key wicket of Wade.

The total looked sub-par but Phoenix defended well to win by four runs with 'Hero of the Match' Richardson taking two for 15 in his 20 balls, including 11 dot balls.

After he took the wicket of the dangerous Tom Banton (44 off 32) ad South African David Miller (35 off 30) was unable to get Fire over the line.

Earlier in Manchester Malan was powerful to leg and classy through the off as he replied with gusto to the Originals' 3-189 - at the time, the second highest score in Hundred history. The England left-hander hit nine of 24 sixes in the match, facing 44 balls.

Phil Salt posted an unbeaten 70, but his 46-ball innings was dwarfed in front of a 14,207 crowd in the baking Manchester sunshine.

Salt and captain Jos Buttler shared 84 for the first wicket in 51 balls, the England white ball skipper contributing an entertaining 41 in 25 balls.

Tristan Stubbs hit compatriot Tabraiz Shamsi for four successive sixes in his 27 off 10 before being caught off the last of the five-ball 'set'. Shamsi's 20 balls went for 45.

Salt also shared an unbroken 52 in the last 20 balls of the Originals' innings with fourth-wicket partner Laurie Evans (26 not out off 11).

But the Rockets came out firing hitting 28 off the first ten balls on the way to 79 without loss after 35.

Though Hales went for 38 off 20 Rockets did not let up. Tom Kohler-Cadmore (30 off 17) and Ian Cockbain (20 off 14) supported Malan as Rickets scored 2-193 in 94 balls.

The two Australian bowlers involved had tough days with Rockets' Australian Daniel Sams going for 36 off his 20 balls and Originals' Sean Abbott being hit for 39 off 15.
