WHAT IS OVER-FUNDING?
By agreement, private schools get 80 per cent of needs-based funding through the Commonwealth and 20 per cent through their respective state or territory government.
But federal governments have typically provided more, resulting in most private schools getting more than 100 per cent of needs-based funding.
Public schools have typically received between 90 and 95 per cent of needs-based funding.
