Keira MP David Campbell has offered his resignation as Minister for Transport and Roads after reports claiming he used a taxpayer funded car to visit a gay sauna.
A Network Seven report said Mr Campbell visited Ken’s at Kensington on Tuesday night, where he stayed for two hours.
The venue, which is also known as KKK, touts itself on its website as a ‘‘spacious, clean and safe place to meet sexy guys’’.
VOTE: Should the disgraced state MP now resign from his seat of Keira?In a statement released late today, Mr Campbell said he was resigning ‘‘for personal reasons, not for any reasons relating to my Ministerial duties’’.
‘‘I apologise to my wife, family, colleagues, staff and the community for letting them down,’’ he said.
‘‘This will be a very difficult time for my family and friends and I ask for their privacy to be respected.
‘‘I will remain as Member for Keira and thank my local community for their continuing support.
‘‘I am incredibly proud of my achievements while serving as Minister for Transport, Roads, Police, Small Business, the Illawarra, Regional Development and Water Utilities.’’
