Christmas is a season full of traditions - decorated trees, presents from Santa and silly paper hats. But the humble home Christmas light display has now gone high-tech.An entrant in the Mercury-Wave FM Light Up The Illawarra competition, technology-savvy Farmborough Heights man Craig Galvin decided to use his computer skills to create a magical Christmas lights display."The lights that we have are all computer operated and synchronised to music," he said. "It's all done through computer programming and I also import parts from the (United) States."Not content to settle with a spectacular light show, Mr Galvin created an interactive experience complete with a festive soundtrack."We also have a radio station that we broadcast the music through and people can tune their radio into 88.1 and listen in their car while they sit outside and watch," he said. "The music starts at 5pm. The sequence lasts for about 25 minutes and then it repeats itself. "There are six songs with a good mix between comedy songs, slow songs and fast songs." Mr Galvin said he enjoyed seeing visitors react to the presentation."It takes about three to four weeks to set up and without fail it always rains the first night we have them on," he said."But it's a lot of fun and it makes a lot of people smile."The Galvins' home is in Vista Ave.Nominate a display in the Christmas Lights Competition by clicking on the special feature on this page
