Eric Roozendaal denies he will run in Wollongong

01 Dec, 2009 11:15 AM
NSW Treasurer Eric Roozendaal has denied that he is preparing to challenge NSW Premier Nathan Rees for the top job.

Reports today suggested the Labor caucus had moved to overthrow Mr Rees, in favour of Mr Roozendaal or backbencher Frank Sartor.

It was reported that powerbroker Eddie Obeid wanted Wollongong MP Noreen Hay to move to the upper house so Mr Roozendaal could run for the lower house seat of Wollongong and become premier.

However Mr Roozendaal issued a statement early today denying he any such plans.

He said his relationship with Mr Rees was solid and professional.

"Nathan Rees has a very tough job and he has my full support," Mr Roozendaal said.

"I am the treasurer and that is the job I enjoy - and my priority is supporting jobs."

What they say one day doesn't apply to what they will do the next. Also we have short memories, they have thick skin, so no big drama even if somebody remembers who said what and did differently. I am bit tired of all the tricks they use.

Look what he did with the Cross City Tunnel, yeah let's give him control of the state. What schmucks we are for voting these incompetent people into power for this long

The Labour and Liberal parties both seem to be drawing from a shallow political gene pool now. Although we elect them so I guess they are justified in whatever they do. We let them do it.
