The alleged murder of WIN TV newsreader Ross Warren was one of Wollongong's most enduring mysteries and now 20 years later, the policeman who investigated his disappearance has made one final plea for help to catch his killer. Detective Sergeant Stephen Page reopened Warren's missing person's file a decade ago and through dogged investigation found the much-loved weatherman's disappearance was linked to at least nine murders and countless brutal bashings by a gay-hate gang which rampaged through Sydney's eastern suburbs in the late 1980s. Watch a preview of Blood Sport - The Bondi Gay MurdersIt was Sgt Page's Operation Tarrodale and its 3000 pages of evidence, police reports, phone taps and testimony that formed the basis of a 2005 inquiry, overseen by then Deputy State Coroner, Justice Jacqueline Milledge.Ms Milledge found that Warren and fellow gay men John Russell and Kritchikorn Rattanjurathaporn had been brutally beaten at Bondi gay-beat Marks Park and then thrown to their deaths from the cliffs. But Warren's body has never been found and no-one has been charged with his murder. Now, in a new episode of Austar's Crime Investigation Australia (CIA) show, Det Sgt Page makes a heartfelt plea for witnesses - or the killers - to come forward. The one-hour program, which airs on March 26, features interviews with Sgt Page, forensic pathologist Dr Allan Cala, author Greg Callaghan and friends of Warren, including WIN personality Susie Eleman and Chris Jones. It details the original police investigation into Warren's disappearance and includes horrific re-enactments of his violent death.Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
