Light rain drizzled down on WIN Stadium yesterday morning but workers installing seating in the impressive new western grandstand were dry as a bone. After months of painstaking work, battling wet weather and frequent high winds, the final touches were put on the white roof of the $29 million grandstand. The roof's completion marks the final major construction milestone for the stadium project.Illawarra Venues Authority chairman Chris Christodoulou said the region's dismal weather had been a dampener, but work could now move forward at a cracking pace."The roof was supposed to be completed to this stage eight weeks ago, but we have had a lot of other work that we've still been able to get done. It hasn't affected the overall construction of the project," he said."The fact that it's now finished means that it's not only a beautiful structure, but that our program will be back on schedule."Each metal sheet was moulded on site before being hoisted 85m into the air above the stand and bolted in place."It's probably one of the best looking grandstand roofs in the NRL," Mr Christodoulou said.He urged Dragons fans to come out in force to spur the team on to victory against South Sydney at WIN Stadium on Sunday.
