Illawarra firies in QLD rescue effort

The NSW Urban Search and Rescue team sent to Queensland to help with the flood crisis will include at least three Illawarra firefighters.Fire and Rescue NSW Wollongong duty commander Inspector Jay Bland will head USAR’s planning team while Chris Hughes from Wollongong’s Hazmat crew and Helensburgh’s Kevin O’Connor will be part of the 34-member NSW taskforce.The USAR crew includes paramedics, engineers, Hazmat officers and firefighters.
