The driver of the truck and dog trailer escaped unhurt after the rollover, which happened about 500m south of the Mt Pleasant Rd overpass at about 1.45pm.
The toppled truck blocked all south-bound lanes of the road and spilled several tonnes of grain, causing headaches for motorists and emergency services alike.
Motorists were forced to use Bulli Pass, creating traffic congestion in the northern suburbs into the evening.
In September last year, two trucks collided near the same spot, causing one truck to jack-knife and closing the road for two hours.
This time, all southbound lanes remained closed until 3.45pm, when one lane reopened. The remaining lane did not reopen until just after midnight.
Flow-on delays meant motorists heading home ran into a wall of traffic as far back as Waterfall.
