Top Gong awards: the winners

These are the winners in the Top Gong awards:Arts, Culture and Music: Peter Copeland.Founded the Wollongong Community Orchestra, which today has 150 members.Community: Jayne Wilson.Created the First Floor Restoration Program to assist families affected by mental health, alcohol or drug use problems.Environmental Sustainability: Alison Mellor.With her husband, founded a website to encourage Wollongong residents to be more aware of their impact on the environment.Fashion Design: Jasmin Cosmos.Demonstrated environmentally aware fashion design by creating a wedding dress using recycled materials and natural dyes.Sport: Keith Caldwell.Contributed years of time and effort to the Bulli Surf Club, where he acts as a mentor, educator and fundraiser.Young People: Renae Chapman.Supported troubled young people and organised events for Wollongong youth such as barbecues and band nights.Women Making a Difference: Tania Hayes.Travelled the country to raise awareness of issues faced by carers and the disabled and acted as an ambassador for several national charities.
