Wollongong needs to market itself as the capital city of the South Coast and find an event that will put it on the international map, a leading Australian demographer says.KPMG demographer Bernard Salt has told the Mercury that Wollongong should be positioning itself as the capital of a region that spans almost 500km of coastline."If we look at Newcastle, it controls the Hunter but it doesn't dominate areas to the south which are dominated by Sydney, or to the north which are controlled by Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour," Mr Salt said.HAVE YOUR SAY: Post your comment below.
