Several elderly residents of the Housing Trust complex in Market Street had been stuck in their units for nearly a fortnight after the building's only lift broke down on March 17.
Trust operations manager Chris Lacey said Kone Elevator technicians had installed a new drive in the lift yesterday morning and had then spent several hours testing the system.
Mr Lacey was thrilled that the lift had been fixed before Easter.
"We have really appreciated residents' patience and we're so happy that the lift is up and running again," he said.
Several elderly residents had relocated over the past week, opting to stay with family or friends until the lift was fixed.
Mr Lacey said one resident had applied for rent abatement but the Housing Trust had not yet assessed the application.
