George Hoyn, who lives in the same block of units as the deceased woman, described the shocking scene as he left the building about 8.30am.
"There's a hell of a lot of blood in the stairwell there," he said.
Bligh St residents leaving for work this morning have expressed shock at seeing a crime scene set up in their neighbourhood.
One woman, who asked not to named, said she was upset to see the police tape stretched across the back two blocks of units as she arrived home from work this morning.
She said she planned to move from the area.
A young man visiting a friend at an adjacent unit block told the Mercury he had been at the Bligh St complex when police arrived yesterday afternoon.
"I didn't know what was going on," he said.
"It's pretty scary."
Although he didn't know the deceased woman he had seen her coming and going from time to time.
"She seemed like a nice lady," he said.
The dead woman's body was found in the boot of a car abandoned off Foothills Rd, Corrimal, yesterday evening.
