But imagine what it is like to bring home three babies at once.
For 2012 Illawarra Young Business Person of the Year Peter Buckley and his wife Ally, the arrival of identical triplets was made easier by so much help and encouragement from many people.
Family, neighbours, friends and workmates at Thomas and Coffey, Unanderra, and St Gregory's College, Campbelltown, have chipped in to help them make the transition from one child to four.
When Chloe, Eliza and Bronte arrived home last Wednesday the support started immediately when their big brother Fraser, 2, decided which cots his sisters were to sleep in by putting a different coloured teddy in each.
Staff at St Gregory's College have made enough dinners for three weeks.
"They have put together what they call 'a food truck' and are working in pairs bringing us food," Mrs Buckley said.
Mr Buckley's 250 workmates have also been very supportive as have grandparents Helen and Peter Jennings and Jim and Robyn Buckley. And great-grandmothers Dorothy Harvey and Betty Buckley have proved extremely helpful as well.
An operations and business development manager, Mr Buckley has taken time off work to help his wife establish a routine.
When Mrs Buckley is feeding two babies he feeds one with a bottle of expressed milk. The babies are rotated for each meal.
The couple thank all the staff at Liverpool Hospital and Campbelltown Hospitals.
