Shellharbour surfer Jada Thomas boasts a record that even her idols Sally Fitzgibbons and Stephanie Gilmore would envy going into this year's Barton Lynch junior event at Palm Beach.

The seven-year-old won the 2012 event without dropping a heat and is undefeated since she began competing last year.
BL's Blast Off, organised by former by 1988 world surfing champion Lynch, is Australia's biggest junior competition and Jada's performance last year earned her sponsorship from Roxy and Shellharbour's Beach Street Surf Scene.
She'll be in the under 8s division this year but will be in the hunt for the title if recent form is any guide.
"She'll be the youngest in the division," father Jeff Thomas said.
"She's been competing in some Wahu comps and most recently she competed in the under 10s mixed division, which included the boys, and she won that so she's going pretty well. The thing with Jada is, she's really got that competitive mongrel. She'd rather surf in competition than have a free-surf. She's fearless as well, she just loves it."
Before this year's event Jada began training under the tutelage of surf coach Rhys Bombaci.
"She's been working with Rhys for about three months. He's a great communicator and you can see when he talks she's taking it all in."
Jada has also shared some waves with her idol, Fitzgibbons.
"We were at Bomba Beach and Sally was having a surf and she [Jada] couldn't get her wetsuit on quick enough," Jeff said.
"I had chat to Sally's father as well about how to bring Jada along and he gave me some great advice. He said to be slow and steady, keep it fun and make sure life isn't all about surfing. Even since Roxy came on board they haven't tried to force her into competition."
BL's Blast Off begins on September 23.
