Ms Hay said she was, and always had been, a staunch supporter of the Port Kembla RSL and its executive, having worked with them for many years.
‘‘The executive is comprised of hard-working, upstanding members of the community who have volunteered their time, skills and knowledge free of charge,’’ Ms Hay said.
‘‘To be dismissed without so much as an explanation is in my opinion far from acceptable and just not good enough.’’
The former sub-branch are also extremely disappointed the yearly Remembrance Day Service won’t be held and tributes to our fallen will go unheard
Ms Hay said the community has been left wondering about the reason behind the State Branch’s seemingly sudden decision to remove the hardworking former executive, saying concerns had been raised that it was a quick grab for cash.
‘‘I have called on the New South Wales RSL to provide an explanation for these unprecedented sackings and to consult with those affected a matter of urgency,’’ Ms Hay said.
