RDA Illawarra chief executive Natalie Burroughs said the Q&A-style panel would be moderated by ABC’s Tony Jones with prominent leaders in economics, infrastructure, social and policy development.
Mrs Burroughs said Deloitte Access Economics partner David Rumbens, Centre for Policy Development (CPD) Sustainable Economy Program regional director Laura Eadie, University of Wollongong SMART Infrastructure Facility chief executive Garry Bowditch, Top Blokes Foundation managing director Melissa Abu-Gazaleh, Judith Stubbs & Associates principal Dr Judith Stubbs and RDA Illawarra chair Eddy De Gabriele would discuss key regional issues and answer questions from the audience about the future of the Illawarra.
“We have put together a diverse panel of experts to ensure that we explore and discuss the future of, not only our region economically, but our vision of what our community and society could be.
‘‘We are looking forward to hearing the discussion and debate that we hope will invigorate the thoughts and conversations about shaping our future,’’ Mrs Burroughs said.
‘‘The panel’s discussion will be driven by questions from the community, as well as from the RDA Illawarra website. The website provides the opportunity for anyone to submit either a video or written question. I encourage everyone to submit a question to our Q&A panel.’’
Program and registration details are also at rdaillwarra.com.au.
Mrs Burroughs said another highlight would be when Mr Rumbens, a macroeconomist specialising in retail forecasts, labour market analysis, project investment and government program reviews, presented Deloitte Access Economics’ findings of the stage one report of the Transition Illawarra review.
It will provide an analysis of the region’s economy and prospects.
The summit at the Novotel Wollongong Northbeach also features café conversations with the opportunity to contribute to the Transition Illawarra implementation plan through facilitated breakout sessions.
Mr Jones will also deliver a keynote address on ‘‘Public Democracy and the Media’’.
