The proposed upgrade of the WIN Entertainment Centre into a fully fledged entertainment and convention centre would bring valuable new business to Wollongong and the Illawarra. The upside is huge: market research indicates the centre could bring an average of 800 business and professional visitors into the CBD a week, all with money to spend.
Hundreds of jobs could be created, with an annual injection of $12 million into the local economy.
Yet so far, the State Government and Infrastructure NSW has said no. Tell them to rethink their priorities and do something positive for this region!
Make sure your voice is heard — fill in the online petition below.
Or, click here to print a copy of the petition and encourage your family, friends and associates to sign it. Then return it to the Illawarra Mercury, 21 Auburn Street, Wollongong, or PO Box 1215, Wollongong NSW, 2520, marked ‘‘Attention: the Editor’’.
We, the undersigned, call on the NSW Government to either:
* Revise the decision of Infrastructure NSW so it can fund the WEC convention centre plan, or
* Fund this project directly from Government revenues to stimulate the Illawarra economy.
