Save Our Services Wollongong convener Stephen Spencer said the group would hold a rally outside the council building at 5pm, before the councillors met to discuss the next stage involving the citizens panel.
Late yesterday Wollongong City Council released the four options that councillors will consider putting on public exhibition at the Monday meeting.
The protest rally had been organised before the group knew precisely what councillors would be discussing on Monday night, but Mr Spencer did not see this as pre-emptive.
‘‘We’re only six days away from the council meeting,’’ Mr Spencer said.
‘‘At this stage all we know for sure is what the citizens panel is recommending. Various council officers and the lord mayor have put a fairly significant degree of emphasis and importance on the citizens panel and their recommendations.
‘‘Rather than sit on our hands and wait to see what council is looking at on Monday night, we’ve decided to hold a rally to let council know quite clearly what our views are.’’
