The South Pacific Carnival’s first semi-finalists will be determined by tonight after up to three rounds of post-sectional play in the fours.
The 18 section winners from the opening day will be reduced to just four sides to meet on Friday.
Defending champions Windang, skipped by Rick Malley, did not make it through their section, beaten in the decisive third match by an Albion Park team skipped by Illawarra Zone 16 Champion of Club Champion Singles winner Ian Barrett.
Albion Park, and 13 other sides, have a bye in this morning’s first post-sectional round before they take on Shane Garvey’s Wiseman Park side for a quarter-finals spot.
Among the top matches today should be Brett Pieper skipping against Jim Davies while Steve Glasson takes on Ernie Ronald.
Taren Point star John Green skips a composite side against Harbord, skipped by Paul Leckey, while Warilla’s Jeremy Henry takes on Figtree RSL’s Greg Thurling.
Bulli were a big story on 2013 on and off the green; Jared Hamilton’s team will look to stay alive against Dean Aitken’s side [including Eric Johannes].
In the other morning match, Jim Green will take on Wiseman Park’s Col Cheadle.
