Wollongong dance studio NRG can boast of its world-class status, after taking out a top 10 spot in the IASF Dance World Championships.

The studio's senior team placed sixth in the world and third in the Nations Cup, only just behind Japan and the US.

The junior team were ranked seventh in the world after their competition.

NRG directors Samantha Reis and Genevieve Anderson, who have been sending regular updates to family and supporters, were thrilled with the results.

‘‘They are by far the best thing our dance studio has ever put out there,’’ Ms Reis said.

‘‘We are so proud of all these dancers.’’

Forty dancers flew to Florida last week after earning the right to compete against the best in the world at the Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation national championships in Melbourne last year.

In the US, the senior team competed at the International Cheer Union championships and the International All Star Federation competition.

The junior team were the first ever from Australia to compete in the junior competition.
