The long weekend brought rain, wind, sunshine and even a rainbow to Illawarra skies.

The colourful arch was spotted over Wollongong on Monday, shortly after a mid-morning shower.

By the afternoon, the rain had well and truly set in, capping off an otherwise mostly fine Queen's birthday weekend.

Maximum temperatures hovered around 17 degrees for most of the weekend, dropping to 11 overnight.

A few showers fell on Saturday but Sunday was gorgeous, offering clear skies all day long.

Temperatures are expected to rise in coming days, but keep your brolly handy.

Showers are predicted for most of the week.
