Scott Bateup skipped his Dapto Citizens side to six big wins and victory in the annual Schweppes Two Bowl Triples at Dapto Bowling Club.
Bateup, with partners Roger Duggan and Dean Aitkin, won all six games and finished with a massive 89-shot differential to claim the top prize.
Towradgi Park's Brian Harriott, with partners Ted Clarke (Warilla) and John Ritchie (Woonona), finished runner-up with six wins +56, a shot ahead of the only other six game winner, Wiseman Park's Grahame Cook, Jason Cheadle and skip Mick Japundza.
Wiseman Park's Robbie Warren was in a strong position heading into his fourth game but had a 17-17 draw against the undefeated defending champion Paul Robertson (Thirroul).
But the draw effectively ended the hopes of both teams with Warren winning his last two games to finish fourth with 5.5 wins and a huge +79 shot differential.
Three teams finished on five wins, while the best of host club Dapto was Brian Fox and his son Brian, playing with skip Gordon Gillespie (five wins +35) in seventh.
With a total prize pool of $7000 up for grabs over the two day event, some of Illawarra's best bowlers - including Harriott, Bateup, Warren, Brett Pieper and Dapto's Peter Dyke - were featured among a capacity field.
It is the eighth year the event has been backed by Schweppes with the format of six games of 16 ends of two bowl triples proving popular.
