Greece supporters at the Wollongong Hellenic Club were left shattered following their team’s one all loss due to penalties on Monday morning.

Club director Andrew Vasiliou said Greece had plenty of opportunities, but the team failed to capitalise.

‘‘They’ve just been unlucky,’’ he said.

‘‘In the goal scoring... they didn’t use their opportunities - they had plenty of opportunities but they didn’t make use of it.’’

Mr Vasiliou said more than 100 people, mostly young fans, packed into the Figtree club to watch the match.

‘‘It was a very exciting atmosphere,’’ he said.

‘‘We were a bit disappointed with the result... but everyone enjoyed themselves.

‘‘It would have been nice if we ended up with a win.’’
