The best rivalry in Illawarra bowls continues on Saturday with Dapto Citizens and Warilla to face off in the quarter-finals of the Champion of Club Champion Pairs at Woonona Bowling Club.
Heavy rain forced yesterday's play to be washed out with the quarter-finals rescheduled for Saturday afternoon and semi-finals and final at Woonona on Sunday.
Eighteen Illawarra Major Pairs champions nominated for the event, with the winner to represent Zone 16 in the state finals at Nowra in November.
Two rounds were played on Saturday with Dapto Citizens champions Chris Green and Steve Green winning through to face Warilla young guns Jesse Noronha and Aaron Teys in the standout quarter-final.
Both quarter-finalists had a bye in round one with the Dapto Citizens pair beating Mick English and Michael Cooper (Thirroul) 19-14 in round two.
Noronha and Teys were also made to work hard for their 20-15 round two win over Shellharbour father and son Barry and Paul Peters.
Warilla are having a great championship season having taken out the Illawarra Fours, Open Pairs, Triples, Senior Singles and President Reserve Singles in 2014.
Meanwhile, Fairy Meadow's Peter Grubb and Mark Halsey had a narrow round two victory, beating Windang's Michael Murphy and Paul Webb 17-16.
Halsey and Grubb face Dapto's Peter Kendall-Brian Suckley on Saturday.
The other last eight match-ups are Wes Falconer-Brian Harriott (Towradgi) v Glen Hillen-John Hillen (Helensburgh) and Paul Wesley-Ian Barrett (Albion Park) v Wiseman Park's Jason Cheadle-Robbie Warren.
