Mr Immoos, who has a reputation as not only an industry leader but a caring and inspirational boss, plans to stay active within the Illawarra community.
When the Novotel was sold recently, Mr Immoos was offered other opportunities to stay on with Accor.
But he is about to turn 60 and loves living in the Illawarra so much he decided it was time to step back from senior management and remain in the community he had grown to love.
"I made the call to stay here because there are a lot of things I am involved in locally that I still want to continue," he said.
Accor recently entered into an agreement with new owners Oscars Hotels Pty Ltd to transition the Novotel Wollongong Northbeach from a management to a franchise agreement, which took effect on September 1.
The new arrangements have resulted in a change to the management team at the Novotel.
Accor Operations Franchise and Strata Hotels vice-president Dino Mezzatesta has been working closely with the new owners to help ensure a smooth transition with the new arrangement and Mr Immoos will continue to provide assistance to him after September 19 when he officially stands down as general manager.
"I will stay engaged with the new owners but it will be more on an ad hoc basis," he said.
"I will also help the new GM, who is one of my ex staff, to find his feet. That is Steven Savic. He used to be a food and beverage manager here. He is a local boy."
