This week some of the Dances4Events team were on the Gold Coast dancing for a Michael Jackson Gloves Off corporate tribute show, and although the business is still new it is already picking up work in cities such as Sydney and Melbourne.
But what they want most is to do more shows in Wollongong, and this Saturday Dances4Events founder Natalie Thais Bauer has teamed up with Brusnik Enterprises director Nick Josifovski to try something new at the historic Anita's Theatre.
Mr Josifovski wants to transform the dormant venue into a thriving hub for music and the arts, and Ms Bauer wants to show Wollongong the international standard dance talent we have in Wollongong.
And she also wants to provide an avenue for other talented people who don't want to go overseas but still have a dancing career while living at home.
She has choreographed a show this weekend that she calls Destination Showgirl Cabaresque, which includes different forms of dance and a performance by Elvis impersonator Nick the King.
It will take place on a second stage built in a new bar area. Ms Bauer hopes it sparks enough interest in her troupe to fill the large theatre at a future event.
"That is a dream of mine - to perform to a packed audience in such an iconic local venue," she said.
Ms Bauer said Dances4Events was available for a variety of work, and she was keen to give local dancers more opportunity to share their passion locally so they could live and work in Wollongong and the Illawarra.
Tickets are available here for Saturday's Cabaresque show and the Dances4Events. Thais Entertainment Facebook page will have information about all performances at home and away.
Ms Bauer said establishing the business in Wollongong was all about giving dancers a chance to work and settle in the city they grew up in and loved.
