The Bachelor's Blake Garvey has been labelled a "jackass" by his former fiance Sam Frost, who told Channel Ten's The Project he "just dusted off his hands and said, 'It's done'" – barely five weeks after proposing to her.

Frost said she felt "confused" and "played", telling interviewer Carrie Bickmore: "I am so annoyed that he proposed – and that's what I said to him.

"When he called it off, I said, 'How dare you propose to me? How dare you take that moment away from me? Because I want to be engaged once, and get married once, and I want to believe in it.' And I feel like he kind of took that away from me.

"If he wasn't sure, we could just have a crack at having a relationship. But instead, he made me feel like this was actually going to happen."

Garvey, 31, asked Frost, 25, to marry him in the finale of the hit reality show, filmed in South Africa several weeks ago.

In the Monday night interview, Garvey cried while detailing his own suffering since abruptly ending their engagement.

"[It's] a difficult thing," he told The Project. "It's hard because I do love Sam, she's just a beautiful person.

"I've had my heart broken throughout this because I've said goodbye to many, many incredible women – all of them, now. And it's going to take time to heal."

The Project's live audience laughed and scoffed as Garvey spoke. Earlier, when Studio 10 co-host Jessica Rowe watched this excerpt on-air, she put her fingers down her throat and pretended to vomit.

"Really, Blake!" Rowe said. "Carrie, I hope you gave him a hard time. He was so mean to Sam."

Garvey told Bickmore that nothing had "gone wrong – it's just a general feeling; you know that something's not quite right".

This was contrasted with a clip from The Bachelor's final episode, in which he proposed to Frost with the words: "You're the love of my life and I've never been surer of anything. I have no doubts in my mind. You're the one for me."

Frost told Bickmore: "I was very sad when he told me [it was over]. I cried for a long time. Then I was angry. I was like, 'What the hell was that?'

"And even watching the episodes and listening to him say, 'I want a life partner' – what a load of rubbish!"

Garvey said he broke the news by meeting up with Frost "in person and just talked over it".

But Frost was sceptical of his claim that he still loves her.

"Well, I don't believe that for a second," she said, describing their relationship as "more like friends" after they returned from South Africa.

"We actually haven't even hung out as a couple and given it a shot. He actually just dusted off his hands and said, 'It's done.' And I'm like, 'What's done? You haven't even tried!"'

Garvey denied he is in love with any of the other contestants, saying: "It's not about that; my heart is broken ... this has just happened and this is very raw."

When asked if he is "worried about how Australia might see you now", Garvey said: "I can't really focus on that.

"It's been my journey and my journey shared with all the women."

Bickmore then asked Frost if she still loves Garvey.

"I think I feel quite numb about him at the moment," she replied.

"I can watch the show – I watch it with my girlfriends and I just kind of go, 'What a jackass.'"

Garvey and Frost's interviews were recorded separately. They also gave separate interviews to Woman's Day, which were published on Monday.

Frost told the magazine she was "completely blindsided" by Garvey's shock announcement, describing him as "confused emotionally".

Garvey said he had "fears and doubts like anyone and unfortunately they were realised", admitting that "in hindsight maybe I should have not proposed" but saying "at the time, it felt right".

Despite telling The Project he needs "time to heal", Garvey told Woman's Day he is "definitely" on the lookout for a new girlfriend.

"I went on the show to find love and I'm still looking for it," he said. "Absolutely. I believe the right person for me is out there."

While Garvey said he hoped his former bride-to-be could reconcile and be friends, Frost said: "No thank you. I think the damage is done ... I'm going to focus on myself and stay strong and positive."

She told the Daily Mail she had only seen Garvey once since filming ended – because their contracts prevented them being seen together in public together until the finale aired – and that he had not given their relationship a chance.

Frost's Instagram account, which now has almost 93,000 followers, has been filled with photos of her enjoying an active family and social life – including outings with fellow contestants Lisa Hyde, Chantal Hryniewski, Zoe O'Brien, Laurina Fleure and others. It is believed many of the program's contestants have formed tight friendships. On Saturday, runner-up Hyde posted a photo of her and Frost with the caption, "Sisters before misters".

It has been reported that Garvey, who was billed as a real estate agent, is also the owner of Alpha Male Entertainment, which provides strippers and topless waiters for parties and hens nights. News Corp reported that Garvey himself worked as a topless waiter for two years.
