Swapping suits for princess costumes and face paint, the Fernhill woman now runs Dragonfly Parties, which provides entertainment, face painting and balloon modelling for kid’s parties.
She will be among the stall holders at the Pregnancy, Baby and Kids Expo being held at The Illawarra Grammar School (TIGS) on Sunday.
Mrs Scheen, who is a new mum to three-week-old Benji, ran kid’s parties to put herself through university before embarking on her legal career.
But the lure of the little ones was too strong.
‘‘I thought I’d give this a shot because I loved it and did some children’s entertaining in an orphanage in Bolivia when my husband and I took a career hiatus,’’ she said.
‘‘We have a ball, we play party games and dance with kids for a living, it’s a lot of fun.
‘‘We love seeing their faces when we turn up, just seeing a princess or a character turn up to the house, that’s always really special,’’ Mrs Scheen said.
The expo will run from 9am to 1pm with market stalls, workshops and kid’s fun area just a sample of what’s on offer.
Parents’ workshops include speech development, first aid, healthy eating for kids, child behaviour, natural birth, breastfeeding and early childhood education and care.
Entry is $5 for adults and free for kids under 15.
