Plans for a woodfired pizza shop and deli outside the renovated Burelli Street Woolworths have been lodged with the council.
To be called Terra Mia, the venue would ‘‘help activate the shopfront during the day’’, according to the plans, and would operate seven days a week during the day and night.
Just up the road, at the corner of Crown and Kembla Streets, there are plans to fill the un-used pavement outside Services NSW with an outdoor dining area.
Centuria Property Funds, which manages the prominent blue glass office block atop the site, has submitted a proposal to change the former MAC1 Apple shop into a 120-seat restaurant.
‘‘It is proposed to fitout the shop with a fully licensed restaurant,’’ the Centuria development application says.
‘‘The front courtyard area ... could be used for seating some 80 people, with umbrellas and furniture and some planter boxes to give demarcation and atmosphere.’’
The restaurant would operate seven days a week, including public holidays and would employ about 10 people, the plans say.
Also on Kembla Street, Wollongong’s first official ‘‘small bar’’ The Throsby opened this week.
The 60-seat venue is the first local bar to apply for the NSW Government’s small bar liquor licence and will serve up wine, cheese and salumi from the strip of small boutiques along the western side of the street.
