Wollongong coach Gordie McLeod is wary of Cairns' twin-Cams attack heading into Saturday night's home game.
Cam Gliddon and Cam Tragardh combined for 33 of the Taipans' 69 points when they beat Wollongong by four a month ago in Cairns.
The Taipans' win came five weeks after they defeated the Hawks by two in Wollongong. Gliddon and former Hawks forward Tragardh were also instrumental that night with a collective 23 points.
Wollongong were tied with the Taipans with 28 seconds remaining in the round-seven duel but Gliddon iced the win with a pair of free throws in the closing seconds.
"We did a really great job on everyone except for him and Trigger [Tragardh] and obviously they did enough to get them over the line," McLeod said of the previous meeting with Cairns.
"We disrupted pretty well but we didn't put ourselves in a good enough position to win it. We didn't adjust well enough after Trigger made those first couple of shots. He schooled us a bit and Gliddon did a great job."
While the Hawks suffered their 13th loss in 16 games last Friday against Melbourne, Cairns (11-5) jumped into second spot with last Sunday's 24-point thrashing of league-leading New Zealand.
Taipans coach Aaron Fearne is expecting a typically close contest with Wollongong.
"Their offence is difficult to play against and they've got some continuity there in terms of players," Fearne said.
