The new $39 million train station was opened in late November 2014 but without any toilets - the government said they would be added this year.
On Tuesday, Shellharbour MP Anna Watson made the surprising claim commuters would have to cross their legs until 2016 before the toilets would be opened.
Ms Watson said she received a letter from Ms Berejiklian on Monday which stated: "I am advised toilets at Shellharbour Junction station will be available for use early next year".
The response left Ms Watson unhappy.
"Forcing Shellharbour Junction station commuters to wait until 2016 for new toilet facilities is simply not on," she said.
However, a spokeswoman for the minister's office said the letter was written in December last year but, due to public holidays, had not been posted until late last week.
Ms Berejiklian said the government would be delivering the toilets when promised.
"We have always said there are a number of finishing touches being added to the station, including a toilet," Ms Berejiklian said.
"The toilet will be open to customers this year, in 2015.
"It was important to get the station open for customers as soon as possible."
She also attacked the Labor Party for not building the station when they had the chance.
"Like everything else they did in transport - Labor were all talk and no action," Ms Berejiklian said.
