Racing and Wagering Western Australia tweeted about the news of the mare's death on Wednesday morning: "Devastating news on the loss of group one winner Elite Belle. Our thoughts are with all involved with this wonderful mare."
It has been reported Elite Belle's death was the result of a heart attack.

The horse which was trained by Grant Williams, had won more than $1 million and 10 races, including the Railway, WA's biggest race.
The six-year-old mare was on her way east to be prepared for Melbourne's autumn carnival.
Elite Belle was owned by leading owner-breeder Bob Peters.
More to come...
It's sad to hear of the passing of Elite Belle. I'll cherish seeing her win last year's Railway Stakes.
