It is the first time in the events 31 year history that it will be held in regional New South Wales.
Destination Wollongong General Manager Mark Sleigh said the city looks forward to welcoming the participants of the 2015 NSW Police & Emergency Services Games next March.
“Wollongong boasts an array of exciting attractions, stunning beaches and a fabulous food scene, all only an hour from Sydney," Mr Sleigh said.
"Along with great sporting facilities, Wollongong has a variety of accommodation options, so whether participants wish to splash out on 4 star luxury or get close to nature at one of our beautiful beachside holiday parks there’s something to suit everyone.”
The 2015 NSW Police Games is open to all NSW Police Force employees (sworn, unsworn or retired) (including Volunteers In Policing) and full time employees of government agencies with a law enforcement role including NSW Fire and Rescue, Ambulance NSW, Customs, NSW Department of Corrections, Australian Protective Service, SES, the Sheriffs Department, Rural Fire Service, Australian Federal Police, Australian Defence Force, as well as Police Bank employees within NSW.
Retired and family members from each of these agencies are also encouraged to take part.
Deputy Commissioner David Hudson, APM – Director of Corporate Services and Chairman of the NSW Police Games said the games are all about competition.
"I encourage all NSW Police Force personnel and other Emergency Services to embrace these games, enjoy the competition, renew acquaintances and make new friends. These games will be a good release from the difficult and challenging jobs that Police and other Emergency Services do every day.”
The 38 sports offered at the 2015 include – angling, aquathon, basketball, biathlon, boxing, clay target, cycling, equestrian, fun run/walk, golf, 000 half marathon, hockey, indoor cricket, indoor rowing, mountain bike racing, netball, open water swimming, oz tag, petanque, paintball, pistol, rifle, sailing, soccer, beach soccer, softball, squash, surfing, swimming, table tennis, tennis, ten pin bowling, touch football, track and field and triathlon.
