After months of deliberating over the planned Keira Street roof-top bar's liquor licence, the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (ILGA) met last week to make a final decision.
On Monday the venue, which has been operating a ground-floor cafe since late January, posted on its Facebook page that it had "some big news this week".
Owner Adam Murphy told the Mercury there had been no news yet from the authority, but said he hoped to receive further information in the coming days.
"We're hoping to let everyone know what's going on as soon as possible," Mr Murphy said.
"We're really thankful for all the support from the public and the community, who have been very supportive throughout the application process," he said.
The 250-capacity venue's struggle to open has been going on since May last year and captured the attention of many in Wollongong, who see it as a valuable addition to the city's growing independent bar scene.
At a February public hearing conducted by the ILGA, there was overwhelming support for Humber's bar licence from police, Wollongong council and the community.
The state's top liquor bureaucrat also spoke highly of the planned bar, despite previously recommending the authority reject the application.
