Gary Edward Stollery is accused of trying to head-butt two officers and vowing to "rape their children" after being found hiding from police in a caravan parked in the backyard of his McPhail Street home.
Police attended the 41-year-old's address on both Saturday and Sunday in search of Stollery, after he failed to report on bail to the Lake Illawarra Police Station on Friday.
Port Kembla Local Court heard police had suspicions the man was hiding at the Unanderra home after allegedly hearing an occupant of the home urge another to "put him in the back" when they attended the house on Saturday afternoon.
It was upon their return visit on Sunday, when they were speaking to the occupants in the backyard, that officers heard a "creaking" noise coming from a caravan and asked Stollery's girlfriend about his whereabouts.
"He's not here, you can check [inside the caravan] if you like," she allegedly told officers.
Within minutes, officers allegedly found Stollery hiding in a storage area under the caravan bed.
According to facts tendered to court, it was as police handcuffed and walked Stollery from the premises that he became aggressive and tried to lash out at the officers.
He argued with police about wanting some cigarettes and was given a packet by his daughter, only to have them taken away by police.
"You're not taking me anywhere," he allegedly said, before trying to head-butt one of the officers.
He allegedly tried to head-butt the second officer as they walked him to the back of the police vehicle, before telling them, "I'm going to rape your children", the facts said.
After being placed in the vehicle, Stollery allegedly continued to yell and howl like a dog while repeatedly banging his head against the perspex window.
He appeared in Port Kembla Local Court on Monday, charged with resisting and assaulting police officers in the execution of their duty.
He admitted the breach of his bail conditions and was refused bail to appear in court on Tuesday.
