The announcement was made on Thursday by VIEW's national vice-president and Wollongong resident Sue Field at the Smith Family's Koonawarra Learning Club.
It will be the first time the Illawarra has hosted the biennial event for the women's volunteer organisation.
Ms Field said the convention would decide which issues of national importance volunteers should push for, such as more funding to combat childhood obesity, or domestic violence against women.
"We then lobby the relevant government departments, and put our voice behind it whenever we can and as often as we can, and we keep doing that until we can see we're getting a result," she said.
"We will be a force to be reckoned with come September, with all female members of the public welcome to join us as we hear from guest speakers including Channel 10 personality Jessica Rowe, comedienne and actress Jean Kittson ... and debate social issues."
The group was established by the Smith Family charity in 1960 as advocates for women, children and education, with 10 clubs along the South Coast between Helensburgh and Kiama.
The Koonawarra Learning Club is one of many initiatives run by VIEW, and helps disadvantaged primary students with maths, spelling and reading.
"Without education I don't think you've got anything really," Ms Field said. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit view.org.au.
