Underdogs Figgy Bowlo are chasing a maiden Illawarra Grade 1 pennant title, while Warilla are eying a fourth straight crown in Sunday's decider at Warilla Bowling Club.
Warilla are Zone 16's powerhouse club and are into an eighth straight top grade grand final, but face an in-form Falcons who have been the big improvers in 2015.
This season Figgy Bowlo have rocketed from perennial mid-table side to the cusp of the biggest prize in club bowls, with their key off-season signings Steve Green and new bowls co-ordinator Graeme Archer transforming their fortunes.
Green and Scottish international Archer were at their best in Figtree's 57-49 win over Wiseman Park in last Sunday's qualifying final, after Figgy Bowlo beat Corrimal in an extra-end thriller in Saturday's elimination final.
Wiseman Park were left shattered by another season where they made the semi-finals but failed to reach the grand final as Archer and partners beat Dylan Skinner 23-15 and Green beat Rob Warren 22-13.
Former NSW star Shane Garvey handled the slow green best for Wiseman Park in a 21-12 win over Greg Thurling, but Figgy Bowlo were convincing winners.
With Figtree also in the Grade 4 grand final against Dapto Citizens it's been a memorable season already for a club which aspires to rival Warilla as Illawarra's premier bowls club.
"It's magnificent to have two teams playing for the pennant flag," Archer said. "We're looking to improve in all grades and to have the 1s and 4s in the grand final is major step forward.
"Warilla are the benchmark - it's hard to find a weakness. But anything can happen in a grand final and on the day we'll look to show what underdogs can do."
Archer says it's critical all three rinks play well and prevent the all-star Warilla side claiming a blow-out win on one rink.
"We have to be compact and keep it close in all three games. If we can do that with a few ends to go and our supporters behind us, who knows what can happen. "Personally, in my first season here I've really enjoyed my new role and the Illawarra comp is very competitive."
Archer says the club's other high profile recruit Steve Green has been a key factor in the pennants success. "Steve has stepped up big time in the finals. He's been amazing and we need another big performance from his rink on Sunday."
Warilla will start raging favourites for a fourth straight Grade 1 flag and another shot at the State Flag in August.
The Gorillas signed world No 1 Alex Marshall to take them to the next level. With former world No 1 Leif Selby as his third, plus Geoff McGillivray and Jesse Noronha on the front end, they've been in scintillating form.
They crushed their Wiseman Park opponents 30-5 in last Saturday's major semi-final.
Warilla skip Jeremy Henry says his current team is the best he has played with, an ominous warning to Figtree. The Gorillas produced some of their best bowls of the season in thrashing Wiseman Park 69-33. Archer echoes the wishes of most bowls fans in hoping he and Marshall go head-to-head on Sunday.
"We're good mates and it would be a dream match-up.
"Whoever you have to play it will be tough, but it would be a bit more special facing Alex."
Warilla Bowling Club will host all seven grand finals this weekend.
In a change from recent years, the showpiece Grade 1 decider will be a stand-alone clash on Sunday afternoon (1pm start).
The Grade 2 and Grade 3 grand finals are on Sunday morning, while Saturday morning will feature the grades six and seven deciders.
On Saturday afternoon Figgy Bowlo and Dapto Citizens meet in the Grade 4 decider, while the final round robin match in Grade 5 between Oak Flats and Dapto Citizens will also be played.
