Dapto Citizens won two of the three zone 16 pairs championships with Trevor Gillis and Aaron Spears playing great pressure bowls to claim the open pairs at Windang Bowling Club.
Gillis and Spears won their first zone 16 title with a comeback 22-17 triumph over Wiseman Park's Dylan Skinner and Shane Garvey (skip) in Sunday's final.
Last Saturday former state senior pairs champion Brian Harriott claimed his second Illawarra senior pairs crown in partnering Citos clubmate Fred Thompson to the title.
Harriott-Thompson beat Figgy Bowlo's John Jovcevski and Tony Dunn 27-8 in the decider at Dapto BC.
Harriott skipped his side to a 26-16 win over Godwin Buhagair and Richard Humble (Figgy Bowlo) in their semi after surviving a thriller 19-18 against Oak Flats' John Noble and Allan Bramble in the quarter-finals.
Jovcevski-Dunn upset Ted Clarke and Geoff McGillivray (Warilla) 17-14 in the semi-finals.
In the open pairs, Gillis and Spears trailed 17-15 but in windy conditions held their nerve to take the crown.
It was Dapto Citizens' first zone 16 open pairs title since club legend Troy Somerville and Tom Ellem won the title in 2011.
Gillis and Spears won four of their five matches by five shots or less including a 24-21 round three win over Windang's Glen Bryant and Mick Barber.
The Illawarra pairs and senior pairs champions now represent zone 16 in the State Championship Finals at Ettalong Memorial BC in October.
