Taren Point claimed an unprecedented third straight Grade 1 state pennants title, with Dapto Citizens clinching the Grade 4 flag and Warilla Grade 2 in Monday's finals.
Windang went close to making it three state titles for Illawarra Zone 16 after losing a cliffhanger, 65-61, to Manildra in the Grade 6 decider at Northmead BC.
Warilla produced one of the great finals comebacks, charging back from 19 shots behind and trailing 64-59 with five ends to play to beat Dundas Sports 68-67 in Grade 2 at Cabramatta BC.
The Warilla side boasts several bowlers to have won Grade 1 trophies with Warilla, including their Grade 2 skips Wilson Patuwai and Jared Hamilton, plus Ted Clarke and Ryan Burgess.
And while Warilla's Grade 1 side struggled in another disappointing finals campaign, their Grade 2 mates celebrated winning the club's fourth state flag.
Warilla won the state Grade 1 crown in 2004, with the South Coast club also state champs in Grade 4 in 1998 and Grade 2 in 1979.
"They never gave up and to come from 19 shots down in a final is a very special effort," long-time Warilla official Ian Smith said.
Meanwhile, Dapto Citizens hosted the prestigious Grade 1 final, but members were cheering their No 4 side to the club's maiden state crown, following a 53-46 triumph over Asquith at Nelson Bay BC.
Citos were the dominant side in Grade 4, thrashing Ganmain 65-39 in Sunday's semi-final after winning their sectional matches against Adamstown (73-46), Ramsgate RSL (61-43) and Halekulai (71-52) by a whopping +64 shot combined margin.
Formed in 1958, Citos are one of Illawarra Zone 16s biggest and strongest clubs and have been the main rival to Warilla in Grade 1 for the past decade, winning the top grade Illawarra flag in 2011 and 2012.
But the Grade 4 state triumph will always have a special place in Citos' history.
"Pennants is the pinnacle of club bowls," Dapto Citizens chief executive Shaun Parnis said. "It was a great day in our history."
Meanwhile, Taren Point can claim to be one of the great Grade 1 teams after clinching a third straight state crown by beating South Lismore 70-53. South Lismore won two of the three rinks but Illawarra-based John Green was outstanding playing third for skip Wayne Turley in their rink's 32-9 win over Glenn Pitts.
