As part of the new week of art talks, walks and events, Mr Benson will explore whether gender matters – or as the blurb says do female artists need to appear naked before their art can appear in great galleries and museums like the Metropolitan of Art? He will be part of a panel with actor Rachel Griffiths and MONA curator Jarrod Rawlins.
Coinciding with Sydney Contemporary Australasian international art fair, the new art week starting on Monday will include art-related performances including those that mix art with food, art trails, discussions, videos and activities for children.
Last year's Archibald Prize winner Fiona Lowry has created a new cocktail, Pink Frost, for the event.
Sydney Art Week runs until Sunday 13 September.
